The Endurance 420E Elliptical Cross Trainer is an excellent commercial or at-home gym product. With commercial-gauge solid steel construction, this machine is designed to be used throughout the whole of your fitness journey.
Not only does the design itself create an excellent model, but the additional features are also above-par when teamed with the ‘wont-break-the-bank’ price tag.
This mid-range product comes equipped with a 6kg effective inertia-enhanced flywheel, 20% resistance levels and 20 pre-set workouts built in.
What more could you want from a model in this price range? Let’s see if the 420E is the right model for you.

Stride size matters
One of the most important things to take note of when purchasing an elliptical cross trainer is the stride length. Too short and you’ll stumble over yourself, too long and you might pull a leg muscle. Although not adjustable like the NordicTrack Commercial 12.9 Elliptical Cross Trainer, the 420E features a 20” leg stride which is ideal for the average size user.
Can you guess what the second most important thing is?
You guessed it, the workout programmes
There is no point in spending lots of money on an ‘all singing, all dancing’ (yes that’s a technical term) machine if the programmes don’t help push you to your next level.
Too many and you might feel overwhelmed, too few and you’ll soon run out of motivation and momentum.
Luckily, we think that the 420E comes with the perfect amount of 20 pre-set workout programmes. If you do want more then you might be interested in purchasing an additional iFit subscription. This programme will grant you instant access to hundreds of daily new videos, fun fitness challenges, delicious healthy recipes and community chatrooms.
Of course, an easy way to stay motivated is to increase the challenge level.
How do I change the challenge setting of my 420E?
There are a few different options to make the workouts harder (or easier for that matter).
Firstly you could utilise the Digital Silent Magnetic Resistance which runs from 1 - 20%. The higher the level the harder the resistance is, so ultimately the harder you will have to work.
Secondly, grab hold of the soft touch upper body grips and you’ll give yourself a full body workout.
The 420E does not feature an incline ability, so if this is important to you then look towards the NordicTrack C5.5 Elliptical Cross Trainer.
What else can I do whilst working out?
Take advantage of the iPod compatible audio and dual speakers so you can work out to your favourite playlist. Place your tablet in the integrated tablet holder and you can watch the latest episode of your tv drama or even answer work emails.
Great value for money
Although the 420E does not feature an incline ability we still think that with its wide range of programmes, resistance and additional entertainment features this is a great commercial or at home product.
